the people of Rockland might be forced to liberate other worlds, not to save the people there, but to secure more sources of income to produce more mobile suits.Home depot island countertop shop style your senses carrollton tx If money from the Combine fails to come through though and patriotism doesn't hold up then. Or maybe out of a sense of their own survival if enough refugees make it to the planet to tell them what a Smoke Jaguar occupation is like.

It could be that after the attempted invasion of Rockland and an amazing showing by the Duel the yakuza announce they can produce more mobile suits but they don't have the funds to do so, followed by people donating their own money or labor to assist in defending the Combine.

That said though, I could also totally be underestimating just how patriotic the people of Rockland are. It will all be very touch and go for a while there until Comstar allows Rockland to connect to the Combine and, subsequently, a source of revenue to fuel the production of as many mobile suits as possible. I guess the biggest issue at the start will be getting people willing to go into debt to convert those foundries, maybe even working for promised future payments, all to produce more mobile suits behind enemy lines. Mobile Suits might be expensive as hell by local standards but compared to building warships to counter the clan's warships? They're super cheap. Honestly, through all of the talks about how expensive repairing the Duel would be, followed by how attempting to build one of their own would be even more expensive, all I could think about is how as soon as Comstar reconnects Rockland to the greater Draconis Combine the planet will be drowning in money. That also kind of runs into the issue of, well, do they only attempt to liberate worlds on their side of the border? Something to think about I suppose.Ĭlick to shrink. All I see are factories that can be reactivated to produce mobile suits. But I suppose that depends on how many jumpships are in orbit of Rockland when things go south. There is also the possibility that the governors and yakuza of Rockland might consider it their duty to liberate other worlds as well, especially if they succeed in producing enough mobile suits to protect their world and then some. Maybe the locals will get lucky though and Rockland wasn't considered important enough to have any Comstar members "in the know" stationed there. My biggest worry would be the local Combine government attempting to take control of said production, or the local Comstar forces attempting to sabotage said production as I believe the attack on Rockland was early enough in the invasion for Comstar to still not realize how desperate things were going to get. Seeing as how they are both the only weapon the Inner Sphere currently has to combat warships and are also vastly less expensive and time-consuming than warships to produce they are kind of the Innersphere's greatest hope for making the initial invasion less of a curbstomp. Guess a lot of factors depend on where or not Benjamin ends up being the lone hero here or the guy who leads the charge into a new type of warfare.Ĭlick to shrink. The greatest possible result of repelling the clan invasion of Rockland (hopefully) and the revealing of the Duel to the greater population of the planet, in my view, would be the subsequent shifting of Rockland's entire economy towards building more mobile suits. Maybe a larger amount of people will take up training with a katana? I mean, the katana was already pretty culturally significant, but the existence of the beam saber kind of adds a whole level of mystic to it. I suspect that the only reason why Rockland's economy won't collapse after the invasion is over is the fact that their planet will come out of this conflict as mobile suit production specialists, something I'm sure the Combine would love to throw money at, hand over fist.īeyond that it's hard to speculate. There would definitely be an "under siege" mentality though, and pretty much any economic productivity that isn't necessary for living or the military would ground to a halt.

Click to shrink.I don't know if Rockland would consider itself "independent", the population might consider itself more as a Combine hold out, a territory behind enemy lines.
